Reginald Ludlow Kennedy April 26 1929 - July 26, 2010 It is with great sadness the family of Reg announces his sudden passing at the Plummer Memorial Hospital. Reg battled heart disease for 31 years and the Lord decided his battle was done. Born in Fredricton , New Brunswick and raised in Chipman, New Brunswick . Reg lived on the rail line, and with his family witnessed history occur. Reg was the devoted and loyal husband to Dorothy (MCRAE) Kennedy. The doting dad to Colleen (Ralph) Bumstead, and to Charmaine (Graeme) Kennedy-Lillie. Reg was the cherished and adored grampie to Adam and Brian Bumstead and to Karl and Kohle Kennedy-Lillie. Reg was the honourary grampie to Justin Brideau. Reg was the youngest son of Mabel and Thomas Kennedy. He was predeceased by his many siblings, Reg will be missed by his many nieces and nephews who reside in Fredricton New Brunswick as well as London, England. After the Korean War, Reg travelled to Haiti, to be a hoist man at a gold mine, he travelled to Yellowknife, where he worked at Giant mine and learned the trade of pipe fitting. and Western Canada working at various mines. Reg met Dorothy while working in the shipyards in Collingwood, and he was the pipe fitter for the Norgoma. Reg and Dorothy moved to Goulais River where Reg was employed at Copper Corp Mines in Batchewana Bay. Reg retired from the Tube Division in 1994.Reg loved telling stories of his youth and his adventures. Reg was a simple man, whose proudest moments were watching his children and their children take pleasure in being around him. Reg passed on his love of reading, Western movies, good music, and his love of ice cream to his "boys". Reg gave freely of his time and was never to busy to sit and listen to his boys tales. Reg enjoyed watching his grandsons achieve their goals big or small. |Grampie was never too busy to play cars, build a lego or read a story too. Reg's infectious smile, twinkling blue eyes, jovial disposition lives on in his grandsons. Reg devoted his life to his family and making sure the job was done. He will be missed. Proudly served during the Korean war with the Princess Patricia's Light Infantry. "not for honour or prestige, because it was what needed to be done" Friends may call at the Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Road 945-7758) on Friday July 30, 2010 from 1:00 p.m. until time of funeral service in the Chapel at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Kim Myering officiating. Interment at Goulais River Cemetery.
