Obituary of George Alfred King

George has gone to join his beloved wife Ruth on the 20th anniversary of her passing on Thursday, June 8, 2017 in his 97th year. Dearly loved father of Janice Zimmer (Larry) and Steven King (Debbie).  Special Grandpa “Pa” of James King (Brittany), Rachel King (Tyler), Jeff King, Greg Zimmer (Amy), Martin Zimmer (Lory), Roxanne Henry (Dale), Allan Middleton (Sydney) and Wylie Middleton (Renee). Great Grandpa of 5. Son of the late Percy and the late Margaret J. “Maggie” King of Little Rapids, Ontario.  Brother of Jack King (Barbara), Doris Goodmurphy (Floyd), Donna Sherlock (late Gerry), Gordon King (late Murdena) and Shirley Nicholson (late Gary).  Siblings predeceasing him:  Alice Thomson (Jim), Edith Martin (Tom), Orval King (Greta), Leonard King, Lloyd King (Norma), Earl King (Agnes)and Ronald King (Betty).  George will be fondly remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  Family and friends are invited to visit at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Road 705-945-7758) on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. until time of funeral service in the Chapel at 1:00 p.m. with Mrs. Helen Smith officiating. Interment at Greenwood Cemetery.  Memorial donations to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 25, F.J. Davey Home Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.  There are no words sufficient enough to thank the wonderful staff of the F.J. Davey Home, especially the fabulous staff (friends) of Birch One.  You gave our Dad friendship, laughter and dignity.  George was a very proud veteran of WWII.
