Wayne had a huge impact in our cycling and skiing community. A long time Sault Cycling Club member and volunteer who was always there to support our events, his cheerful support will be missed. His children and grandchildren are also a huge part of our active community. You will be missed.

We are very saddened to hear about Wayne's passing. We are thinking about you all. We fondly remember all of the family get togethers with the aunts and uncles and Wayne and Gladys making the trip south for the gatherings. I particularly enjoyed all the laughs and listening to the many stories and reminiscing, as I got to the know all of the family when Mike and I were first married and the years following. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Gladys and family, please accept my condolences in your loss of Wayne. Wherever I encountered him, on the ski trails, at Foodbank Farm, or cycling, Wayne was always encouraging, fun to be with, and a mentor for anyone pursuing the great activities for which he had such energy and passion.

I was running on Fifth Line just as the snow was settling in the late autumn and who do I see but Wayne walking across the road cross country skiis in hand. He had just completed the Pinder trail and was now going onto the Red Pine. He proclaimed his hope that this was going to be a great season, while I looked at my shoes and pondered "perhaps I should be in ski boots instead". Your positive outdoorsy attitude which is an inspiration to us will be missed by us folks on Fifth Line.

To Wayne's family: We are sorry to hear of Wayne's passing. So many years ago we were close friends of the Westman family in Princeton. As boys we all grew together, went to public school together and as years passed we all ventured out to begin our careers, and start our own families. Wayne has left so many memories to every member of your family and to his many friends.
Know that our thoughts and prayers go out to each of you as you lay Wayne to Rest.

Memories.
Decades of extreme mountain bike rides.
Getting lost for hours on NY state back roads on our road bikes.
Work days spent fishing or going to bike races.
Winter fish camp up north. Never had a snow machine but always bouncing around on the back of someone's snow machine.
Many epic fishing trips after work on the road.
Wayne's classic sound effects when telling stories.
You will be missed my friend.
Your Memories will help fill that void.
Your Legacy will live on.
Thanks for so many great times.

My sincere condolences go out to the Westman family. Wayne was a great friend to my brother, Doug’s family, and I was privileged to meet Wayne and Gladys at Doug’s passing. He had a bigger than life personality, was a great storyteller, and was generous human being. He’s going to be sadly missed by all who knew him.

We are so sorry to lose a great brother in law and uncle. We enjoyed chuckles and stories together at family get togethers..and the odd sip together. A great tribute…our son said the day..I sure hope I am able to ride part of the Tour de France route in my 70’s. You will be remembered by all who knew you. Sincere condolences to Gladys, Joey and family, Trisha and family and the faithful lab. Love Stan and Faye

The first time I went ice fishing with Wayne Westman, I thought I’d be a good guy and offer him some nice pieces of Italian sausage from last night’s barbecue. He graciously accepted, then chuckled and offered me a serving of smoked rainbow caught and prepared the previous fall.
I sheepishly tucked away my pedestrian sausage and savoured the wonderful handiwork of this remarkable man.
