Obituary of Egisto Zaccaria
On September 25, 1928, Egisto was born to parents Rosina and Guisseppe Zaccaria in Lago, Cosenza, Italy. From the day of his birth, God had placed a mark upon his life.
Almost immediately when he was old enough to understand he would speak of the Lord and begin making pastori (statues out of clay). As he grew so did his faith and his talents. He would go on to create life size statues of Mother Mary, Saint Frances, Joseph and so forth.
In 1952 he married the love of his life Elvira (Naccarato) and together they would start a family. First born named after her grandmother was Rosina (late Rod Rancourt), two years later Anna (Frank Chiarello) would follow, then late Rita (Tim Dube).
In 1962 he packed up his little family and would travel by ship across the Atlantic, where he would finally lay his roots in Sault Ste. Marie to live out the rest of his days.
During those years, three more children (or as we would joke - his second family) came along. His long-awaited son Moses (Margaret) was born, then his last two little girls, late Nella and Josie (John Policicchio).
He was blessed with many grandchildren and great grandchildren that he adored and showed each one how special they were to him. Grandchildren Maria (Gord), Pat (Ashley), Cassandra (Brad), Melissa (Brandon), Jessica (Albino), Monique (Justin), Jacob (Kayla), Joshua (Kelsey), Sarah, Jordan and Nella. Great grandchildren Trystan, Brandon, Noah, Melania, Bobby, Dean, Grant and baby Logan in his hometown of Lago.
He will be missed by his family including the late Mike (Theresa) and his many nieces and nephews in Canada and in Lago.
Special thank you to Dr. Bowen and staff from emergency and 3B for the support and care during this difficult time.
Family would also like to give a heartfelt thank you to Sherri, Nancy, Linda, Omega, Drashti, Garlitta and Nicole for taking such good care of Nonno.
