I am very deeply saddened by John's passing. In his case, it's a graduation into God's Kingdom. We were very good friends in junior high and high school. When I learned of his accident, I was devastated. I couldn't find a way to contact him and was deeply disappointed in that. We would debate on matters, share our teen adoration for the girls that were, and are still to this day, first class individuals and learn the wonders of art, music and film. He reminded me of Gustav Mahler and still does to this day. I miss not being able to sit and gab with him. May our Father in Heaven truly bless all who took such good care of him.
Our hope is in Christ. Yeshua.

We are so sad to learn of John’s passing. We knew him when he lived in Toronto in his 20’s. He was a luminous, considerate, ever-positive and witty man. His artistic talent was a true gift that he shared with us. He once drew me a beautiful squirrel as cover to an essay submission. It elicited wows from all who saw it. He was a wonderful conversationalist. We were sad that we moved while he was on one of his extended travels, and lost touch with him. John was a real treasure. We extend our condolences to his family in this very deep loss. God bless your soul John. Knowing you was a great blessing. Larissa and Jane Foreman

May John's memory be a blessing. Conversations with John about art and culture, were always meaningful and transformative; I will miss these chats very much. May I extend my deepest condolences to the family. I cherish an artwork I purchased from John years ago. It holds a special place in our collection. Bye bud!

John has always had a special place in my heart. I think I was in grade 6 or 7 the first time he came next door. We had many small adventures over the years; he drew out and challenged my opinions on any number of subjects; once dared me to race him (400m, I lost); tried to shock and educate me; took me to parties. But most importantly, he made me laugh - I see his smile always.
With condolences.

Artist, Skier, Cycler, Traveler, Off-Grid Builder, introducer of Classical Greats to novice neighbors, High school and University comrade, and roof un-bender of Patty Holder's flipped (by me) Volkswagen via foot push method... John was my best friend, and for a time, I was his. I had not seen John for some long period since after his accident, with deep regret in hindsight. As someone that knew John very well in the early days - I can say I always had nothing but respect and a feeling of true friendship in his presence. Barb Patterson in her kind note above said it best: "John made an impact on everyone he met". So long old friend, and thank you for the time we had together. It was mine and many others - privilege to have known you. With Condolences to David, Henry and families.

David and Ruth,
I'm so sorry to hear of John's passing. Despite his situation, that man never ever complained. He always had a smile on his face. I'm sure Paul was there to welcome him. They are back together hanging out again. Xo Wendy Hennessey

David, Henry & Families: I was SO saddened to read the news of John's passing. John was a good friend going through high school years at the Dunn. He was a thoughtful and sensitive soul...and lots of fun too! We had a lot of good times back in the day.
The last time I saw John was following his tragic accident while he was in Rehab in TO. Despite his dire situation, he remained optimistic and positive. He was a very kind, caring and upbeat person.
I'm deeply sorry for your loss. John made an impact on everyone he met. RIP dear friend.

I had the pleasure of going to high school at Sir James Dunn and university at Queen's with John. He had a thoughtful and interesting perspective on issues. He was a pleasure to know. John always had a friendly hello and a kind word. My heartfelt condolences to his brothers and family.

A good man who I have not seen for close to 50 years but still remember well. A friend but more so, a person who challenged conventional wisdom, but always in a thoughtful way. RIP John and condolences to your family. Your example is a tremendous tribute.
