Obituary of Joe Burke
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Joe at his beloved home on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at the age of 71. Cherished husband of Janice for 47 years. Dear father of Michael (Jennifer), Gregory (Christina), and Allan (Amanda). Adored papa of Grace (Noah), Avery, Rowan, Lochlyn, Elijah, Ezra, and Everett. Predeceased by his parents Dorothy and Albert Burke. Brother of Mary Jane Burke. Brother-in-law of Louis Sartor (Maxine), and the late Tom Sartor (Marlene). He will be missed by his many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Papa was an avid supporter of his grandchildren's endeavors and was proud of everything they did. He loved to watch and cheer them on, whether at the rink, on the basketball court, the gym, or the ski hill. Joe had a lifelong passion for hockey, a love he proudly passed down to his sons, and was overjoyed to see carried on by his grandchildren.
Joe cherished the many fishing trips and hunting adventures shared with his boys. His annual deer hunting trip was a tradition he loved and looked forward to each fall. Family meals at his home in Goulais River were legendary. Surrounded by those he loved, he created an atmosphere of warmth and joy. The meals were always massive, the swimming and fishing were endless, and the bonfires crackled late into the night. These gatherings were full of love, celebration, and stories that lasted well beyond the meal.
A celebration of Joe’s life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations to the SAH Renal Clinic or the Goulais River Fire Department and Rescue Volunteers would be appreciated by the family.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Shafiee, Dr. Berry, and the rest of the Renal Care team at the SAH. A special thank you to Karen for her exceptional care, compassion, and support. Thank you to Hannah for your attention to detail and support.
