Ann Bumbacco

Obituary of Ann Bumbacco

Peacefully surrounded by her loving family, Ann passed away on Friday, August 15, 2025 at the Algoma Residential Community Hospice (ARCH) at the age of 75, after a courageous two-year battle with pancreatic cancer.

Adored wife of Kenny for over 43 years. Dearly loved mother of Stephanie (Mike Circelli), Stacie (Tom Douridas) and Kelly (Justin Robinson). Cherished Grannie Annie of Matthew & Gabriel Circelli and Delilah & Giorgia Ann Douridas, who all brought her so much joy.

Predeceased by her loving parents Wilf and Winnie Dixon. Sister of Sue Grosso (Bill) who lived just five doors down, sharing not just a street but a special connection and closeness. Daughter-in-law of the late Erine and the late Ilda Bumbacco. Sister-in-law of Jerry Bumbacco (Fay), Jamie Bumbacco (Betty-Jean) and loving Aunt to her many nieces and nephews.

Ann was born in England and immigrated to Canada at the age of eight. She had warm memories of her childhood with beach filled days on the English seaside and treasured family traditions that shaped the values she would later pass on to her own family.

At just 19, Ann began her lifelong career in education. For over 40 years, she worked as a teacher and mentor to countless students. After retiring, Ann continued giving back to the community by volunteering at Sault Area Hospital, where she brought the same compassion and kindness she shared throughout her career.

Family was at the heart of everything Ann did. She lived a life full of love, fun and laughter with her beloved husband Kenny and family whether they were traveling to Florida, golfing, going to the casino, enjoying dinners out, entertaining friends at their home, playing darts and dancing in the basement or spending time together as a family at camp on Island Lake.

She had a special gift for making holidays feel magical — making sure every detail was just right, from setting the Christmas table weeks in advance, to her incredible cooking with enough leftovers to feed half the Soo.  Ann’s hospitality and warmth became the backdrop for so many special evenings with friends and family, where laughter, stories and shared meals created lasting memories.

Above all, Ann will be remembered for her strength and determination, genuine curiosity about others and generosity. She had a unique way of making people feel special, whether through a handwritten card, a home-cooked meal, or simply asking thoughtful questions and truly listening. She could strike up a conversation with a stranger, knowing their life story in a matter of minutes and always made sure others knew they were cared for. During her illness, she deeply appreciated that same outpouring of care and support from so many.

Our family would like to thank Dr. C. Kuntz, Dr. J. Shum of Sudbury, Dr. M. Febbraro, for never giving up on her, and Dr. N. Apostle for her empathy and kindness. We are also grateful to the incredible nursing teams who cared for Ann over the past two years and the compassionate staff and volunteers at ARCH who went above and beyond to support mom in her final weeks. A special thank you to Father Hamish Currie for his many prayers and visits.

Ann’s remarkable life will be celebrated in the Chapel at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd) on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. with Father Hamish Currie officiating. Following the service, all are invited to gather in the Lower Lounge at Northwood Funeral Home. Memorial donations to the Sault Area Hospital Cancer Care Fund or ARCH would be greatly appreciated by the family.

Ann, Mom - you will be so deeply missed. But we know we’ll feel your presence every time we pour our morning tea, drink a strawberry milkshake, sweep “the bits” off the floor, Bon Jovi starts playing or the Yankees win.

Love you forever. “It’s time to say goodnight.”
