Barbara Roberts

Obituary of Barbara Roberts

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara at the Sault Area Hospital on Monday, July 21, 2025, at the age of 88. She relied on her faith and faced every medical challenge with grace, positivity, and strength.  Barbara is now reunited with her beloved husband, Richard, with whom she shared a lifetime of love, devotion, and adventure that started when they were young teenagers.  She will be forever missed and cherished by her children, Todd Robert (Debbie) and Pamela Roberts-Flynn (Rondeau) along with her grandson, Carson.  God gave Barbara the gift of a close, loving family and happy home environment from the time of birth to her passing.  She is predeceased by her parents, John Joseph and Gertrude Cleo Carson, and sisters, Dixie MacQuigan and Joy Wallace.  Barbara adored her many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins; she has countless memories with all of you.  She was also blessed with wonderful friends and neighbors, and we know how much she meant to them.

Barbara’s endearing smile, kind and caring ways, genuine interest in others, and fun spirit made her everyone’s “favourite”.   She was the best listener.  Her legacy is one of resilience, gratefulness for the smallest things in life, and easy-going nature, but above all else, her love and dedication to her family.

Friends and family are invited to attend a Memorial Mass at St. Jerome Catholic Church (26 Carmel Road) on Monday, July 28, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. with Father Alex Saurianthadathil officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the SAH Renal Care Fund or to your favourite charity would be appreciated.

We would like to thank Barbara’s “second family”, Dr. David Berry and Dr. Mir Shafiee, along with all the very special nurses and staff from the Algoma Regional Renal Program who took exceptional care of her since November 2019.  You not only provided her with comfort and compassion but shared great conversation and laughter together.  Also, thank you to the medical team on 3B at the Sault Area Hospital.

Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758).
