Obituary of Frank Mazzotta
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Frank at the Health Sciences North – Sudbury on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at the age of 57.
Frank leaves behind his life partner of 32 years Rhonda Catling-Dwyer, with whom he shared many beautiful memories together, along with her children Rhonda Salituri (Frank), Stacey Vaillancourt (Jim), and Justin Dwyer (Gen). He was an amazing grandfather to Meghan (Justin), Cassi, Cole, Cameryn, Logan, Hunter, and Griffin.
Frank was the cherished son of Teresa and the late Pietro Mazzotta. He shared a special bond with his siblings - the late Sal (Diane, Rick Guzzo), Carmen (Angela), Maria Hawdon (Ken), Nella Semczyszyn (Joe), Dino (Julie), and Joe (Carole). Dedicated uncle of Trisha (Omar), Tyler (Kara), Jerret (Taylor), Julian, Riley (David), Caleb, Mike (Ali), Kim (Aaron), Brodie, and Tyson. Great-uncle of Henry, Quinn, Cole, Lily, Lynnea, Nora, Mya, Cole, Drew, and Finley. Special nephew of the late Frank Mazzotta Sr., late Frank Giardino (Rita), and Emma Febbraro (late Joe). Dear cousin of Anna Giardino, late Carmen Giardino, Lisa Spadafora (Buck), John Febbraro (Silvana), Mario Febbraro (Rosa), Rosana Febbraro (Cory), and Lori-Ann Dewar (Mark).
Frank was a caring son-in-law to the late Christina Catling and a great brother-in-law to Ken Sr., the late Rodger (Chris), the late Tom, Micheal, and Dennis (Kim).
Frank was known for his dedication, skill, and relentless pursuit of perfection. Whether it was a small home repair or a large-scale project, Frank poured his heart and hands into everything he did. A gifted craftsman, he could fix or build just about anything—often with nothing more than his determination and ingenuity. He was a kind soul who would help anyone in any way that he could.
One of Frank’s greatest joys was escaping to his trailer for a weekend of camping with his family. It was his haven, his place of peace and reflection. He looked forward to those days all winter long—where time slowed down, memories were made, and many late-night conversations were had around the campfire with his brother-in-law Micheal.
Frank was a dedicated, lifelong “Habs” fan, despite the constant razzing he endured from the numerous “Leaf” fans in the family.
Frank worked at Pathways Retirement Residence for many years. He loved every aspect of his job, especially the relationships he created with his co-workers and the residents. Special recognition to Frank’s buddy James (“Jamie”), with whom he shared many moments of laughter throughout the day.
Family and friends are invited to visit at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758) on Friday, August 1, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service in the chapel at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Memorial donations to the SAH Cancer Care Fund or the SAH Critical Care Fund would be greatly appreciated.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Sault Area Hospital and Health Sciences North – Sudbury for their care and compassion over the past few months.
Frank will be dearly missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
