Obituary of Russell McAuley
It is with broken hearts that the family announces the sudden passing of Russell at Health Sciences North - Sudbury with his son by his side on Tuesday, July 22, 2025. He is now reunited with his wife and best friend, Judith Donavon. He will be forever missed by his children Jackie Woolley, Jeff McAuley, his daughter-in-law Sue and his stepchildren, Tara (Bryan), Siobhan (Donny), and the late Keely (Ralph). Proud grandfather of Ryan Paige and Jeffrey, and the many grandchildren and great-grandchildren on the Donovan side. Son of the late Bill McAuley and the late Janice, and Patrick Heeran. Eldest Brother of the late Kevin McAuley, Ted (Heather), late Chris, and adored sister Jeanna Peach (Terry). Cherished son-in-law to Lois Faught and the Carter family. He will be fondly remembered by his extended family and friends.
Russell will be remembered for his quick wit, kindness, generosity, and sense of humour. He retired from Great Lakes Power with 33 years of service to the home he loved on Lake Superior.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Great Northern Retirement home for the care they provided Russell this past year.
As per dad’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at 18 Pickard Road, Goulais River, from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Memorial donations to the Algoma Residential Community Hospice (ARCH) or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
