We bid farewell to Vija of Sault Ste. Marie who passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2025.
Born on September 14, 1939 to Janis and Sofija Berzins of Riga, Latvia.
Throughout her working career, Vija was employed as a Secretary, Store Clerk, Legal Secretary and a Homemaker. She volunteered canvassing for the Cancer Society and alongside her daughter, occasionally volunteered at the Soup Kitchen through their church.
Predeceased by her husband, Aloizs. She leaves behind a son, daughter and grandchildren. Special appreciation to her daughter, son-in-law and grandson who attended to her many needs/requests throughout the years and to the staff at MKK, where she spent her final year.
We will remember Vija in her own way, which was unique, words cannot describe. We hope she is at peace with herself, a turbulent soul at rest.
As per Vija’s request, a private graveside inurnment has taken place. Memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society of Sault Ste. Marie & Algoma District, Zion Lutheran Church or the OFRA Mauno Kaihla Koti (MKK) Fund.
