Obituary of Pierrette Bovingdon
With deep love and profound sorrow, the family of Pierrette announces her passing at the age of 64. A devout Catholic, Pierrette lived her faith with joy and conviction as an active and beloved member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish, where she led Children’s Liturgy, guided sacrament preparation, and dedicated her heart to the spiritual formation of youth. She believed wholeheartedly in service above self, a principle she carried not only in her parish life but in every aspect of her being. Even throughout her illness, she continued to serve with perseverance, dedication, and grace.
Pierrette’s devotion to God was rivaled only by her love for family, friends, and the education of children. She was a natural caregiver and teacher, homeschooling the Byron children, who are now grown, and ensuring that many nieces and nephews completed math and literacy sheets before the fun could begin. Her home, her van, and her heart were always full—whether heading off for adventures to the beach or to the ice caves, or gathering for meals, conversation, and counsel around a warm pot of coffee.
She cherished life’s simple joys: the beaches of Lake Superior, the sunsets at Montreal River Harbour, scrapbooking, the colour blue (especially denim), and any opportunity to bring people together. She had a gift for hospitality, an open heart, and a faith-filled spirit that touched countless lives.
Pierrette was the loving wife and best friend of Allan, the cherished mother of Allison, Craig (Elizabeth Grisdale), and Colin (Anna), and the proud and adoring Grama of Brinley and Rory. She will be dearly missed by her siblings Mike (Noreen), Joanne McFadden (Randy), Paul (Joanne), Dan (Colleen), Monique Anich (Alan), and Rob (Jeannine). Loved sister-in-law of Lynn Jobst (Mark/late Danny Hilderley), Tim (Carrie), late Bev Boreland (Glenn), Cathy Ingram (Dale), late Donna Ziegleman, Eleanor Sawatsky and the late Judy Johnston (late Bob). Remembered with love as “Auntie P” to her many nieces, nephews, extended family. Her two friends who were almost as close as sisters Tracy Byron and Penny Glover. She is now reunited in eternal peace with her parents, Levis and Corrinne Morin. Daughter-in-law of the late Robert and the late Clare Bovingdon.
Pierrette’s legacy is one of faith, love, and service. She lived her life as a witness to God’s grace, a light to her family and community, and a reminder of the beauty found in giving of oneself.
