Brenden Peters

Obituary of Brenden Peters

Brenden passed away tragically on Sunday, September 7, 2025. Predeceased by his parents Jackie and Doug Peters and stepfather Fern Wissell. Survived by his loving siblings, Terry (Janice), Shelley and Blair (Lisa) and nieces Maddy, Janelle and Cassia Peters and nephew Jack Weatherbe. He will be dearly missed by the Malloy family (late Mike/“Mick”) Sally, Shannon and Ryan (Nour) and their children: Sophia, Zane, Mason and Nash. Predeceased by his aunts and uncles: Betty and George Honess, Clete and Ray Latour and Linda and Vern Bouchard. Brenden will be fondly remembered by his many cousins and friends.

Family was very important to Brenden, and he maintained regular contact with his brother Blair and sister Shelley, even though they lived in Vancouver. A special thank you to Janice’s family: Chris, Michael, Ryan, Mitchell, Joann, Patty and Richard, who always made Brenden feel welcome and part of the family.

Brenden was a long time Special Olympics athlete, excelling in numerous sports and his many achievements gave him great joy. Thank you to the coaches, athletes and volunteers for continually making Brenden’s Special Olympics experience one he always treasured. He was also an active YMCA member. He was also an avid bowler and golfer (to say the least!). He kept meticulous records in this regard, so he could keep the community well informed of his frequent victories over his brother Terry. Brenden enjoyed family dinners, along with family vacations, most which of course, included attendance at an MLB game or two. He was a lifelong fan of the Boston Bruins, Soo Greyhounds and of course his beloved Detroit Tigers of which, at last count, he had at least five of their hats.

Brenden loved the simple things in life, such as visiting the library, watching movies and going for coffee (and an occasional beer) with his friends.

Friends and family are invited to visit at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758) on Wednesday, September 17, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service in the Chapel at 12:00 noon with Rev. Helen Smith officiating. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Special Olympics Sault Ste. Marie would be greatly appreciated by the family.

We will all miss you, Brendy.
