Teresa Bitonti

Obituary of Teresa Bitonti

Teresa, whose selfless heart and unwavering care for others shaped her life, has left us.

She passed away peacefully at the Sault Area Hospital with her family by her side on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at the age of 72. As a devoted wife, mother, and nonna, she will never be forgotten.

She was cherished by her husband, Giovanni “John”, with whom she shared a lifetime of love centred around family. She leaves behind her beloved boys — Frank (Antonietta), Tony (Laura), and Michael (Melissa) — who cherished her more than words could ever describe. A nonna like no other, she leaves a legacy of love in the hearts of her six grandchildren — John (Alyssa), Elena (Brandon), Olivia, Sophia, Mila, and Mikayla Bitonti. Predeceased by her parents, Antonio and Maria Barberio, and her in-laws, Francesco and Teresa Bitonti. They are now reunited in heaven. Teresa is predeceased by her brother Giovanni Barberio (Anna), and is survived by her siblings, Biagio Barberio (Chiara), Giuseppe Barberio (Angela), Saverio (Maria Teresa), Rosetta Barberio (Raffaela). Teresa is survived by her brother-in-law Giuseppe Bitonti (Isabella) and sister-in-law Caterina Bitonti (Domenico). Teresa is predeceased by her brother-in-law Vincenzo Bitonti (Antonietta). She was a loving aunt, cousin, and friend to many from all over the world, from Italy to Sault Ste. Marie.

Teresa treasured her time in Clearwater, Florida, with the amazing friends she made at the Aruba Building.

Friends and family are invited to visit at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758) on Monday, September 29, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Funeral Mass to be held at St. Gregory’s Church (71 Estelle St.) at 1:00 p.m. with Father Trevor Scarfone officiating. The Bitonti family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the extraordinary staff of 3A at Sault Area Hospital, as well as to Dr. Spadafora and the team at the Sault Area Hospital Cancer Care Clinic. Your kindness and care for Teresa brought comfort in her final days and will always be remembered.
