“La vita e una combinazione di magia e pasta”
“Life is a combination of magic and pasta”...a blend of the extraordinary and the everyday.
Michele or “Dee Dee” as she was affectionately known to those closest to her, was a vibrant force, full of energy and life. She began working in her early years at Algoma Steel but chose to leave her career to raise her two girls. She was the epitome of a dance mom to her two daughters, travelling and prepping for every competition and tirelessly sewing costumes for countless dancers. She then seamlessly shifted to the role of hockey nana and swim nana to her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Dee was a fabulous cook and baker, and it brought her great joy to prepare Sunday dinners and holiday feasts. Her delicious pasta sauce, pierogi and famous cabbage rolls will be greatly missed and never replicated. She looked forward to spending her summers with her family at camp in Havilland Bay, soaking up the sun, tending to her beautiful flower garden, walking/running/biking the camp road (sometimes all three in one day!) and floating in the lake with her cousins. During her teenage years at Lakeway, Dee was an avid athlete and continued to live an extremely active lifestyle. Fitness was such a huge part of her daily routine, from gym workouts, daily walks and her beloved pickleball games. She also belonged to a hiking club which met weekly and hiked the trails around Sault Ste. Marie and area. It was virtually impossible to keep up with her! She had a particular passion for fashion and enjoyed dressing up whenever possible, for parties, coffee dates and especially for teas with her dear friends, fascinators and all! Having a Ukrainian and Italian background, she also adored music, especially singing and dancing. She looked forward to her rehearsals and performances with the Marconi Choir, performing concerts in the seniors’ homes and throughout the community. She was always working at getting her pronunciation of the Italian songs “just right”, a testament to her work ethic and determination.
Cremation has taken place. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Machine Shop (83 Huron Street), on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. for a celebration of her wonderful life. In memory of Michele, donations to the Algoma Residential Community Hospice (ARCH) would be appreciated.
The Sicoly family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the countless nurses and staff of 3B and 3C at Sault Area Hospital, as well as Dr. Law and Dr. Booth, for your excellent care. Special thanks to the entire staff of angels at ARCH, especially Dr. Apostle and Jac for their exceptional compassion and devotion to our family during Michele’s final days. Finally, to her siblings Mary and Martie and her dearest friends Roseanne and Marianne, who dropped everything to be by our mom’s side through an incredibly unthinkable time, we cannot thank you enough for your support and your steadfast love for our mother.
Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758).
