Claudio Sacco

Obituary of Claudio Sacco

It is with deep sadness in our hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Claudio. Loving father to his precious sons Gregory and Brian (Chenoa). Doting Nonno to his precious angel Boston Scarlett Sacco. Predeceased by his parents Francesco and Erminia Sacco. He is survived by his brother Dominic (Debbie). Loving uncle to his nieces Jordana (Justin) and Jaime. Great uncle of Connor and Emilia DeMarchi and Brielle and Owen Marlow. He is also survived by his many cousins in Canada and Italy, and by his loving partner Crystal, who stood faithfully by his side throughout his fight and brought him great comfort and companionship.

Claudio served with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Services with distinction for over 30 years. He was a man of great pride and honor.

Claudio was happiest at his hunting camp on St. Joseph Island, where he spent many years making countless memories with friends and family, especially during deer and turkey season. He loved every bit of being out there. The peace, the wildlife, and the land itself. He took great joy tending to his garden and caring for the trees he planted. Often saying that was his favorite place on Earth.

Claudio also loved to spend his time at the hockey arena coaching not only his two boys, but hundreds of other young adults in our community. For him, it was never just about winning (though he did plenty of that). Claudio took immense pride in guiding the youth in the Sault and instilling the values that he held closest to his heart — hard work, respect, and most importantly, to always do the right thing. Claudio had a major impact in our community and will be sorely missed by those whose lives he touched.

The family sincerely wishes to thank the home care nurses, SAH doctors and nurses, as well as the team at Toronto General Hospital for the care and compassion they showed him during his fight.

Claudio fought hard during his illness. He fought hard to stay for the ones he loved. The fight is now over, and he deserves his peace and rest.

A celebration of life with family and friends will be held at a later date. Memorial donations to Tracy’s Dream would be greatly appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758).
