Maria Medaglia

Obituary of Maria Medaglia

It is with great sadness and love that we share the passing of our dearly loved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Maria.

Maria was born in Cosenza, Italy in 1943 and immigrated to Canada with her brothers and sisters in 1960. In 1961 she met the love of her life Guido.  During their 63 years of marriage, they were blessed with 3 children: Rose Esposito (Michael), Anthony (Sheila) and Alba Bourdages (Glenn).  Even greater was their joy with the arrival of their six grandchildren: Kristina MacAulay (Brad), Michael Esposito II (Geoff Cutler), Joshua Medaglia (Sunda), Aaron Bourdages, Reilly Bourdages, and Christian Medaglia. And the icing on the cake was being Bizie to her three great grandchildren Maverick, Memphis and Ivy. Always present in her heart were her dearly departed parents Emelia and Luigi Caruso, mother-in-law Rosaria and father-in-law Antonio.  Family was everything to Maria and never was it more obvious than big backyard family gatherings with all the Caruso siblings: late Mario, late Orlando, Mike, late Carmela, Alfred and Franca. Maria enjoyed the bond she shared with sisters and brothers-in-law Ida, Yolanda, Guerino and the late Vittorio.  “In-law” was a title that she didn’t recognize, they were all brothers and sisters in her heart, and she always lovingly let her feelings be known.  Maria was always so very happy to spend time with her numerous nieces and nephews where jokes, laughter and pranks filled the room. Maria enjoyed family fun nights at the Medaglia household with her late brother-in-law Frank Medaglia, and late sister-in-law Jean. Maria will be fondly remembered by her dear friend, Phylis Bourdages.
