Obituary of Micheline Marie Arbour
Mich peacefully passed away at the Sault Area Hospital on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at the age of 87. Beloved wife of the late Raymond Pierre Arbour, with whom she shared 53 years of marriage. Cherished mother of David (Karen), Jamie, Anna-Marie, and Bill (Michele). Proud grandmother of Aleigha, Alysha, Sara, Ben, and Katie, all of whom brought her great joy.
Born in Nouvelle, Québec, on May 18, 1938, to loving parents Peter St. Onge and Helen (McBrearty), Mich was one of ten children and a mother figure her entire life — to her brothers and sisters Jack St. Onge, Joyce Smith, Leonard St. Onge, Claudette Bottoms, Kathryn Taylor, Mary St. Onge, Jim St. Onge, Kim St. Onge, and Tom St. Onge. Her caring nature began at home and extended throughout her life to her four children and to many others in the community.
Mich’s kindness reached well beyond her family, touching countless lives through her volunteer work with the Canadian Cancer Society and her quiet acts of compassion for anyone in need. She lived each day with empathy, generosity, and a belief that caring for others was life’s greatest purpose.
She loved spending time with her family camping and being outdoors — picking pinecones and berries and spending many nights by the campfire sharing stories and warmth. Those simple moments surrounded by nature and loved ones were among her happiest times.
Her strength and quiet resilience carried her through life’s challenges, always with grace and humour. In recent years, Mich faced Alzheimer’s and cancer with remarkable courage and dignity — never losing her warmth, gentle spirit, or the love that defined her. Even as her health declined, her kindness and perseverance continued to shine through, reminding her family of what true strength looks like.
Mich was the heart of her family — gentle, strong, and endlessly giving. She cared deeply for her husband, children, and especially her daughter Anna-Marie, whose needs she met with patience, warmth, and unwavering devotion. Through every chapter of her life, she embodied selflessness and compassion that left a lasting mark on everyone who knew her.
She will be remembered for her courage, her grace, and for showing all of us what truly matters in life. Her legacy lives on in the compassion she inspired and the love she gave so freely.
Now reunited with Ray, her beloved husband, after a lifetime of love and devotion.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Extendicare Maple View for their care and kindness.
