Obituary of Mark Andrew Brown
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband and father, Mark, who passed away peacefully at the Sault Area Hospital on Thursday, October 16, 2025 at the age of 62.
Mark leaves behind his wife of 36 years, Lisa who was the love of his life and his son Robert who he loved with all his heart and was so very proud of. Predeceased by his mother, Heather Brown, father, Harry Brown and his father-in-law, Rocco Turco. He is survived by his brothers David Brown(Christine), and Jeremy Brown (Tracey), his mother-in-law Giuseppina Turco, his brother-in-law, Mario Turco, sisters-in-law, Silvana Turco (Vince), and Lori Turco, his nephews and nieces, Aaron Brown (Amber), Gavin Brown, Abbie Brown, Micaela Novoa (Roberto), Rocco Turco (Lindsay), Vanessa Braga (Max), Andrew Braga, Nickie and Sascha Leckebusch-Peters, great nieces, Selena and Gabriela Novoa. Uncle Mark was always genuinely interested in what each of his nieces and nephews were doing, sometimes even providing some of his wisdom or advice. Even in distance he loved and cherished each and every one of you.
Mark loved people and had a big heart. He lived a life of kindness and generosity. He had an enormous gift of making others feel heard and valued no matter what walk of life they were from. He would go to the ends of the earth to help others. His sharp mind, quick sense of humour, and peerless determination will be sorely missed.
Mark’s most profound legacy was his everlasting love for his wife, Lisa and his son, Robert. His family and friends were an important and genuine part of his life. During his difficult journey over the past year, Mark was able to express his unwavering love for family through the gift of time. He fought so hard to get better with strength, determination and courage.
During a most challenging and extended time in hospital, Mark appreciated all the family and friends near and far who reached out to him through calls, face to face visits, virtual visits, cards, messages etc. Know that Mark was so very appreciative and touched by all the words of encouragement and support. They brought him happiness, great memories and laughter, the best medicine of all. In his final days his final words were, “I know I am loved.”
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the Sault Area Hospital caregivers who went over and above their responsibilities to care for Mark with compassion.
Friends and family are invited to visit at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Road, 705-945-7758) on Thursday, October 23, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service in the Chapel at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. Helen Smith officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Breakthrough T1Diabetes (formerly JDRF) or the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
In the words of Mark, “Have fun and remember to be kind to others”
