Steve Suraci

Obituary of Steve Suraci

It is with heavy hearts and great sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Steve at the FJ Davey Home at the age of 92. Loving father of Angela Hill (John Mullett), Anne DeLuco (Rick) and Alisa Roy (John Burch). Special grandfather of Andrew Hill (Lyra Renaud), Matthew Hill, Jonathon Hill (Vicki Bellemare), Kristen DeLuco, Daniel DeLuco (Morgan), Michael Roy (Ashlie) and Thomas Roy (Cara). Loving great grandfather of Mason Hill, Grayson Hill, Sophia DeLuco, late Ava Grace Roy, Penelope Roy, Ashton Roy and Mila Roy. Predeceased by his parents Stephano and Rosina Suraci. Brother of Rose Marie Proietti (late John) and predeceased by Joseph Suraci (Virgina), Albert Suraci (Emily), Domenica Calic (Paul) and Angeline Maxwell (Fred). Special uncle to his many nieces and nephews.

Steve will always be remembered as an accomplished Electrician who was dedicated to his profession and proud of his 47 years of service at Algoma Steel. He had a deep appreciation for life’s luxuries – from traveling and driving a fancy car to sharing good food, fine wine and the company of close friends and family. But what truly defined him was his devotion in being a steadfast provider and protector for his three daughters. Even as his dementia slowly dimmed part of his memory, he never forgot who his girls were. The disease also revealed a lighter side of him – his sharp wit and clever one-liners became a gift of laughter amidst the complexities and struggles the disease imposed on him.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the wonderful team at the FJ Davey Home (3rd Floor Driftwood). Your dedication, patience and gentle touch brought him comfort and brought us peace. We would also like to thank Dr. Lorraine Sharp for her compassion, attentiveness and thoughtful care. Your presence made a meaningful difference.

Friends and family are invited to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758) on Friday, October 24, 2025 for a Memorial Service in the Chapel at 11:00 a.m. with Rev.
