Obituary of C.J. McConnell

It is with shattered hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of C.J. at the Sault Area Hospital on Friday, October 24, 2025, following a brief illness at the age of 44.

Beloved son of Kim and the late John. Cherished brother of Karie. Proud uncle of Brooke (Nathan). Much loved grandson of the late Ernie and Marg Vanderburg and the late Doug and Luva McConnell. He will be affectionately remembered by his many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

C.J. was happiest when he was on the ice playing hockey, a sport that brought him so much enjoyment throughout his life. His sense of humour touched all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff and doctors on 3C at the SAH for their exceptional care and kindness. A special thank you to ICU – Karie’s work family. You are pillars of strength and compassion, who helped make such a difficult time a little easier. To Robin, Dale, Tara, Jennifer and Len – your unwavering friendship and support at all hours will never be forgotten. The outpouring of support and messages from everyone have been a source of strength through this difficult time. They have not gone unseen or unheard. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

A private family graveside service has taken place, where we take comfort knowing he is laid to rest with Dad. In lieu of cards and flowers, memorial donations to the SAH Critical Care Fund or Bethel Bible Chapel Building Fund would be greatly appreciated.
