Obituary of Virginia Robb

It is with immense sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of Ginny at the age of 73.

Ginny will be forever remembered by her loving husband Willie and her beloved children Lori of Sault Ste. Marie, Julie (Paul) of Banff, Alberta and Geoffrey (Corrine) of Woodland Beach, Ontario. Ginny is survived by her much-loved brothers, Roger (Lesley) and Ron (Elaine), as well as her nieces and nephews. Ginny’s mom and dad, Kaye and Bruce Dimma, will be waiting to welcome her along with her 2 Golden Retrievers, Pride and Aspen.

One of Ginny’s greatest joys was her grandson, Logan. Ginny was proud and loved to “brag” that she was the second person to hold him the night he was born. From that day forward sleepovers at Meme and Papa’s house were tradition, every Friday night.

Ginny’s working career included Great Lakes Power, Fenco Engineers and John Rowswell Engineers, all while raising a family and having many adventures.

Ginny loved cooking and as most people can attest to, she was a great one.  Many family dinners were prepared with love in her kitchen.

Ginny loved to travel, and vacations included South Africa, Vancouver, Alaska, Banff (to visit Julie and Paul), Nova Scotia, Boston, Florida, Las Vegas, Michigan and many fishing camps in Northern Ontario were all places she enjoyed. Some of Ginny’s favourite memories were the many years spent cruising the North Channel with family and friends.

Ginny loved parties, especially her epic Halloween parties. No expense was spared on costumes and decorations.

Ginny was so very fortunate to have a friend of a lifetime, Rhonda. Their friendship started on Laurentian Drive where they met at 7 years old.  From raising their families, milestones celebrated together, through ups and downs, Ginny and Rhonda shared so many precious times together.  The family wants to thank Rhonda for always being there not only for Ginny, but the whole family.

The family would like to share their gratitude for all those involved in the care of Ginny, the Sault Ste Marie Alzheimer Society, LIHN, CBI, BSO, The Geriatric Clinic and the staff at the FJ Davey Home, especially Dr. Sharpe.

We would also like to give a special thank you to the PSWs and Nurses on Apple Orchard 3 (FJ Davey Home) that treated and cared for her like she was their own.  You went above and beyond, and we are eternally grateful.

I always thought you were the best

I guess I always will

I always felt that we were blessed

And I feel that way still

Sometimes we took the hard road

But we always saw it through

If I had only one friend left

I’d want it to be you

Sometimes the world was on our side

Sometimes it wasn’t fair

Sometimes it gave a helping hand

Sometimes we didn’t care

‘Cause when we were together

It made the dream come true

If I had only one friend left

I’d want it to be you

Someone who understands me

And knows me inside out

And helps keep me together

And believes without a doubt

That I could move a mountain

Someone to tell it to

If I had only only one friend left

I’d want it to be you

(Dan Seal, One Friend)
