Obituary of Luciano Candido

With sorrow, the family announces the peaceful passing of Luciano, surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, November 30, 2025 at the Sault Area Hospital. Survived by Maria, his loving wife of 68 years. Cherished father of Frank, Eddy and Danny. Beloved Nonno of Samantha, Amanda and Marisa, and proud great-grandfather of Catina. Predeceased by his parents Luigi and Rosalia Candido, brothers Isidore (Reina), Delfino and Mario. Survived by his sisters-in-law Luigina and Antionetta.

Born in 1931 in Bannia, Italy, Luciano emigrated to Canada in 1950 and lived the rest of his life in Sault Ste. Marie, having worked at Algoma Steel for 35 years.

Luciano was an honorable and humble man who took great pride in his family and his Italian heritage. He always treated people with kindness and respect. Luciano was an active lifelong member at St. Gregory's Church.

In his spare time, he was a hobby woodworker, gardener and an avid Word Search puzzler.

Friends and family are invited to visit at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758) on Friday, December 5, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Memorial Service in the Chapel at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Sault Area Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
