Emily Huckson

Obituary of Emily Huckson

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our sister, Emily, on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

Predeceased by her parents Jim (Alf) and Jacquie Huckson, brothers John, Thomas, and sister Sarah Jane. Left to miss her are her brothers Bill (Franca), Jo (Silvana) and Jacques (Dawn).

She was the magical "Auntie Em" to her numerous nieces and nephews: Kelly, Chris (Maria), Michael (Sue), Sarah (Elpidio), Katie (Terrence), Jacob and Elizabeth (Max).

Emily's life was an amazing journey of adventure and discovery that took her all over the world. Born in Sault Ste. Marie, Em was attracted to the spotlight from an early age - singing to the residents at the Davey Home, dancing with Trixie Hardy, and beginning her lifelong love of theatre with many local groups, notably The Sault Theatre Workshop. She showed a true talent in acting, even winning the prestigious Best Actress award at the Quonta Theatre Festival. Em attended York University and obtained her B.A. in Fine Arts & Theatre. She stayed in Toronto until she was bit by the travel bug.

Emily moved to Japan to teach English making many fast friends and returned to Canada to pursue her love of teaching officially at Nipissing University. She had already visited much of South-East Asia and fallen in love with Vietnam, where she returned after completing school. While there, being partial to younger students, she seized the opportunity to form her own preschool program - Dynatots - for ex-pats and locals. She loved her students and made a lasting impression on so many.

Missing the stage, in her true fashion she formed The Saigon Players, producing and performing in many plays.

Em lived a full and eventful life, traveling with her friends to so many wonderful places, always discovering & learning. She leaves us with no regrets, and the lesson to live life to the fullest. Her endless joy and energy will be truly missed by all.
