Obituary of Gerald LeBlanc
Peacefully at the Sault Area Hospital on Monday, January 12, 2026, Gerald passed away surrounded by care and compassion. He is survived by his children Gerry (Anita), Monique Floyd (Dan), and Jackie Cork (Zaf); and cherished by his grandchildren Chad and Holly, Natasha, Leeza, Devon and Raymond, Kendrah and Kiara. He will be lovingly remembered by his sisters Jacqueline Massicotte (late Amy) and the late Yvette Lambert (Ivan), as well as by many nieces, nephews, and friends. Gerald is predeceased by his parents, Ester and Henri LeBlanc.
Gerry lived a life defined by hard work, loyalty, and community. A proud and dedicated Millwright, he built a long career that later included teaching the trade at Sault College—something he took great pride in. He held a deep respect for veterans and was a committed member of the Legion, carrying that connection in his heart throughout his life.
Known for his quick wit, strong opinions, and love of a spirited political debate, Gerry was affectionately referred to as the “Mayor of John St.” He enjoyed DJ’ing back in the day with Lou Turco, and anyone who knew him understood his fondness for a good game of Bingo. His lifelong friendship with Ron Pine and the spiritual guidance of Willard Pine were deeply meaningful to him.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the medical and nursing staff at the Sault Area Hospital for their care and kindness.
As per Gerry’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no services will be held at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Algoma Veterans Association are welcomed, in honour of Gerry’s strong connection to the veteran community—proudly shared with his son, grandson, and father.
Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758).
