Obituary of Eileen Lato
We are heartbroken to announce the peaceful passing of Eileen, a devoted and loving Mother, an immensely proud Gramsie and a very special Auntie at the Algoma Residential Community Hospice (ARCH) on Monday, January 19, 2026.
She is now reunited with her soulmate, Reno; her loving mother and father, Caroline and Arduino Bergamin; and her late sister Judy Brazeau. Cherished mother and hero of Reno Jr. (Carolyn) and her angel Cara-Lynn (Bill Forsey). Adored Gramsie of Melissa Bishop (Ryan), Corey Jackson (Emily) and Matthew Forsey. Great Gramsie to Jaxson and Caden Bishop and Palmer Jackson. Fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was an amazing Mother and Gramsie – our rock, our true angel and the steady presence we could always rely on. She had a rare gift for loving deeply, giving selflessly and making those around her feel safe and seen. To know her was to be blessed and to be her children/grandchildren was the greatest gift. We feel incredibly lucky that she was ours. Her strength, kindness and unconditional love shaped who we all are today. She taught us compassion, resilience and the importance of family above all else. Her laughter, wisdom and gentle guidance will live forever in the hearts of all those she touched.
Friends and family are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at St. Gregory’s Church on Monday, January 26, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Trevor Scarfone officiating. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery will follow the mass. Memorial donations to ARCH or St. Gregory’s Church would be appreciated by the family.
Our family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Apostle for her wonderful care, Dr. Spadafora, Dr. Booth and to the staff at ARCH for their kindness.
Though our hearts are hurting, we are forever grateful for the love she gave and the life she lived. We take comfort in knowing that she has been reunited with the love of her life. She will forever be our guardian angel.
