Obituary of Iolanda Runco

It is with profound sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Iolanda at Extendicare Maple View on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 in her 88^th year.  

Born May 30, 1938 the same birth date as her beloved husband Luigi, whom she shared 69 years with. Proud and loving mother of the late Vincenzo, Marcello (Maria), Emilia Rizzo (Frank), and Stephen (Sara). Adored Nonna of Luigi Runco (Lisa), Iolanda Garon (Alex), Mario Rizzo (Chrystal), Matthew Rizzo (Danielle), Mainna Rizzo, and Sabrina Runco. Bisnonna of Charlotte Runco, Talia Garon, Isla and Max Rizzo, Santino and Marlo Rizzo. Daughter of the late Alfonso and the late Rosina Lucio. Sister of the late Luigi Lucio (late Rosetta), late Antonietta Vena (late Eugenio), Gina Vaccaro (late Gino), Eugenio Lucio (Franca), Giuseppe Lucio (Beatrice) and the late Ottavio Lucio (Rose).  Daughter-in-law of the late Vincenzo and the late Emilia Runco. Sister-in-law of the late Eugenio Runco. Aunt of many nieces and nephews.

Friends and family are invited to visit at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758) on Tuesday, January 27, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service in the chapel at 1:00 p.m.  Entombment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery Mausoleum. Memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society of Sault Ste. Marie and Algoma District would be greatly appreciated by the family.
