Obituary of Barbara Dewar
With sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Barbara on Sunday, January 25, 2026, at the age of 70. Barbara was the loving wife and best friend of her dear husband, Roy (predeceased). Beloved mother of Jason (Maria) and Jordan (Robin). Cherished Grandma of Ethan, Isabella, Brooklyn, McKenzie, Peyton, and Jacob. She was the precious daughter of Maria Gass (née Laszlo) and the late Jakob Gass. Barbara will be fondly remembered as the cherished sister of Irene Joly (Pierre), Jeannie Thomas (Mark), John Gass (Leona), and Pauline Petrini (David). Sister-in-law of Crawford Dewar (late Pat), Gayanne Dewar, and Frankie Cox (Ralph). Daughter-in-law of the late Crawford Dewar and the late Bertha Ella Rae. She was also a loved aunt, cousin, and dear friend to many.
Barbara worked for many years at the Royal Bank. She later left her secular career to devote herself to volunteer work that mattered most to her—sharing her love of the Bible and her hope for the future with members of the community. Her unwavering faith in God’s promise of a resurrection to a paradise earth soon to come was evident in the way she lived her life. (Revelation 21:3, 4)
