Obituary of Magdalena Scholz
“I’ve had such a beautiful Life”
And with her words to comfort us, we announce the passing of the Scholz Family matriarch and the end of a beautiful era.
Born in Karnten, Austria in 1928, Leni is predeceased by her husband, Herbert and is survived by her children, Monica Scholz (Richard Thibert), Karl Scholz (Alicia Clapp), Rose Christie (Scott) and Ingrid Atkinson (Paul Makkonen).
The pure Joy of her life were her adored grandchildren Kristopher Thibert (Kaitlin), Taylor Thibert (Mia), Marie Scholz (Will Hoff), Carson Scholz (Mica Theofilopoulos), Olivia Melo (Jesse), Laura Christie (Tyson Shennett), Alex Christie (Cassidy), Alena Atkinson (Erik Maidra) and Ryan Atkinson (Riley Dinsmore) as well as her beautiful ‘gifted’ great grandchildren, Matilda, Axel, Emily, Leo, Harper, Sawyer and Aurora.
Leni was so proud of her Austrian Heritage and down-to-earth way of life. She loved to share stories about her childhood at Pikoutz farm with her siblings. She is survived by her twin sisters, Anna and Maria, and her sister-in-law, Josefa, as well as her beloved nieces and nephews who came to Canada to visit on many occasions. Leni is predeceased by her treasured siblings, Valentin Dragaschnig, Johann Dragaschnig, Lucia Meisterl and Klara Teppan.
At 97 years of age, mom’s life was well lived, and she was totally content and ever grateful for all the visits from friends, our Third Line family, the Luczinskis, and all the acquaintances and people who remembered her and her famous cinnamon buns.
A private family service will be held in the Spring of 2026.
For those who wish to honor Leni’s life, you are invited to donate to the Sault Area Hospital Foundation in her name or to pay forward a random act of kindness to another person, as Leni had done so many times.
Special thanks to the wonderful staff and residents at Great Northern Retirement Home, SSM Paramedic Services, Dr Callibani, Dr Parent, Dr Bowen, Nurse Christine and the SAH ER Dept, and Nurse Courtney and the 3A Palliative Team for all the outstanding care she received. Leni was truly grateful to you all for the kindness, care and friendship.
Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Road, 705-945-7758).
