Obituary of Darlene Dainio
Born on September 18, 1948, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, and passed away peacefully on February 4, 2026, at Sault Area Hospital, Sault Ste Marie Ontario
She was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Evelyn Jackson, and her brothers, Harold (Judy) and Harry (Cindy).
Darlene is lovingly survived by her husband of 52 years, Niel Dainio; her daughters Cindy Rodriguez (Bruce), Lise Ann Long (Chris), and Jamie Dainio; and her sister, Dianne Hemrich (Ray) She was a proud and devoted Grandma to Kayleigh Roe, Isla Long, and Reed Eckford, who brought her immense joy.
Mom instilled in her girls the belief that there was nothing they could not do if they put their minds to it—a lesson that will live on through them. Her cooking, her art, and above all her kindness will be remembered by many across the country. Family and friends were always welcome in her home for a cup of coffee and a fresh-baked cookie or a slice of cake. Darlene touched everyone’s life in some way and made friends wherever she settled.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to her sisters-in-law, Cindy Jackson and Judy Jackson, for always being a phone call away and for their unwavering support over the years. A special thank you is also extended to her caregivers at Mapleview, who always treated Mom with kindness and respect, as well as to her medical team at Sault Area Hospital during her final days.
In keeping with Darlene’s wishes, there will be no services. In lieu of donations, please pay it forward with a kind thought or word to a stranger. Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758).
Mom, your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure. You are loved beyondwords and missed beyond measure
