Obituary of Peter Beard
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Peter on February 15, 2026.
Loving partner and best friend of Adele (Barsanti) Brescacin. Beloved father to Gillane Parkinson (Shawn), Sean Beard, Melissa Valente, Alana Jones (Kyle). Doting Grandpa to Ella and Lola Valente, Noah, Luca and Aliyah Jones, Rylea and Quinton Parkinson, and Jaden and Curtis Beard. Predeceased by his parents Robert Beard, Howard and Nancy Livingston. Forever missed by his siblings Paul Livingston (Pat), Nancy McNelly (Wayne), Mike Beard (Linda), Bob Livingston (Darlene), Diane Hooey (Steve), and Ted Livingston (Louise). Brother-in-law and dear friend to Fred and Debbie Barsanti. He was a cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews and special friend to David and Ruth Hornstein, who he considered family.
Peter took immense pride in his work with Toromont CAT. He began his career in Toronto and, in 1992, relocated to Sault Ste. Marie, continuing to build a legacy defined by dedication and hard work. Peter loved sharing stories about his work, the experiences he gained and the people he met throughout his remarkable 40 years of service. During his well-deserved retirement, Peter devoted his time to volunteering at Sault Area Hospital, where he met and assisted countless individuals—a true testament to his generosity. Helping others was simply part of who he was.
An avid golfer, Peter could often be found on the course at the Sault Ste. Marie Golf Club, enjoying the game and the camaraderie of his friends and of course Adele. He will be deeply missed by his golf buddies and all who had the pleasure of sharing the fairways with him. Most importantly, Peter treasured his role as the very best Hockey, Dance and Soccer Grandpa. He was always there offering heartfelt pep talks, standing proudly at the glass during every hockey game, cheering from the audience at each dance recital and came well prepared with his soccer chair in hand on the sidelines. His presence was constant, his support unwavering.
The family would like to thank Dr. Hirvi, and Dr. Deb Saunders for their years of care, and a special thank you to Christy, Clayton, Lindsay, and staff at Superior Medical Center Pharmacy for their constant support and guidance.
Family and friends may visit at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758) on Friday February 20 at 10:00 a.m. till the time of the funeral service in the chapel at 12:00 p.m. with Helen Smith officiating.
