Lorna MacDonald

Obituary of Lorna Bernice MacDonald

To the world, she may have been one person—but to us, she was our world.

It is with profound sadness that the family of Lorna announces her peaceful passing on Thursday, February 12, 2026, in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, after a lengthy illness, surrounded by the love of her family.

Lorna was the heart and anchor of our family—a guiding light whose warmth and kindness left an indelible mark on everyone she met. Her laugh was contagious, her hugs were healing, and her love was unconditional. She had an extraordinary gift for making others feel seen and valued. Whether through a kind word, a thoughtful gesture, or simply being present, Lorna brought joy into the lives of many.

She loved her family deeply and took immense pride in each of them. Lorna is lovingly remembered by her devoted husband, Alex, with whom she shared 63 years of partnership, love, and unwavering commitment. She was a cherished mother to her daughters, Traci (Jerry) and Heather (Dave), and to Christianne (Jim), who was loved as a daughter in every sense of the word. Her beloved grandson, Nicolas (Daniela), held an especially tender place in her heart, and their bond brought her endless happiness.

Lorna is also survived by her sisters, Margaret (late Ted) and Lyn (Robert), and her brother, Charles (Kathy). She shared a close and loving bond with her siblings and treasured the time they spent together over the years—whether gathered for family celebrations, girls’ trips, or long conversations. Those moments meant the world to her. She was a treasured aunt and great-aunt to many nieces and nephews and shared deep, enduring friendships—most notably with Dolores and Gayle.

Lorna lived a life defined by compassion, generosity, and unwavering love for those around her. Even in her final days, her thoughts were not for herself but for those she loved. That selflessness defined who she was—always putting others first. Her legacy of kindness, resilience, humour, and love will live on in all who knew her.

In accordance with Lorna’s wishes, there will be no formal services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice in her memory. Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758).

We will miss you dearly, Mou—and we will carry your love with us always.
