Obituary of Nabil Shaker Srouji
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Nabil. He was a man whose love for his family, generosity of spirit, and quiet strength left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Nabil was the devoted father of the late Amal Tintinalli, Shaker Srouji (Esther), Nabil Jr. Srouji (Rita), and Kristine Smith (Trevor). He was an incredibly proud grandfather to Alexander and Emma Tintinalli, Izabella and Kayla Smith, and Andre, Nathan, and Kaleesi Srouji. His grandchildren brought him endless joy, and some of his happiest moments were spent with them fishing, gardening, cooking, and sharing family get-togethers filled with laughter.
He held warm appreciation for his former spouse, Myriam Smith, with whom he shared many meaningful years and a family he cherished.
He was the beloved son of the late Shaker and Nora Srouji. Nabil was predeceased by his siblings Nasri, Clemence, and Claire. He will be fondly remembered by his sisters Ghada, Kamilia, and Katie, as well as by his many cousins, nieces, and nephews who shared in so many joyful memories with him over the years.
Our father had a deep love for the outdoors. Many summers were spent fishing along the St. Mary’s River with his close friends, a place that brought him great peace and happiness. He took great pride in teaching his children and grandchildren how to fish and hunt, traditions that will continue to live on through the memories he created with us. Each autumn, he eagerly looked forward to moose and deer hunting season, especially the time spent in the bush with his sons.
At Nabil’s request, no formal service will be held. Those who wish to honour his memory are invited to do so in their own quiet and personal way. Lighting a candle in remembrance of him would be a beautiful way to reflect the warmth and light he brought into our lives.
Our family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at ARCH Hospice and to Dr. Karen Booth for the exceptional care, kindness, and dignity they showed our father during his final days.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Nabil’s memory may be made to the Algoma Residential Community Hospice (ARCH) at https://www.archhospice.ca/donate.
Our father will be deeply missed and forever loved. We will remember him in every quiet morning on the water, every story shared around the table, and every moment spent with family — the things that meant the most to him in life.
