Shirley Dupuis

Obituary of Shirley Dupuis

We are deeply saddened to share that Shirley, beloved daughter of the late Lorraine Brooks (Norman) and the late Donald Gibbs (Andrea), took her final breath on Monday, March 9, 2026. She left this world in a room filled with love, surrounded by the family who cherished her.

Shirley entered the world on December 28, 1952, with a bright spirit that never dimmed. She was full of life, laughter, and warmth right up to her very last day. Her love for her family was boundless, and she would go to any length to support and protect them.

One of Shirley’s greatest joys was her time in Edmonton. It was her happy place—where she felt most at peace. In honour of her wishes, her ashes will be returned there so she may rest in the place she loved most.

Shirley is lovingly remembered by her two children, Kathy James and Cory (Diana) James; her five grandchildren, Matthew Sullivan, Donny Mergaert (Tayler), Maranda James (Rayvon), Jayden LaFord, and Jessy LaFord; as well as her many great-grandchildren who brought her endless joy. She is survived by her sisters Brenda Rousseau (John), Terri McNickle (Steve), Theresa Armstrong (late Marvin), late Doreen Mahonen and Carole Lynne (Villeneuve) Bryant – Lorraine Dupuis at birth; her brothers Alex Gibbs (Linda), Paul Gibbs, Peter Gibbs, Dennis Gibbs, late Nolan Gibbs and the late Donald Gibbs. Shirley had six step siblings who loved her; and her beloved, pride and joy Titan who will miss her dearly; along with numerous extended family members and friends.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Dr. Evans, Dr. Xiao, Dr. Ladak, Dr. Booth, Dr. Bishop, and Dr. Apostle, as well as to the compassionate nurses of 3B at Sault Area Hospital—Shania, Avery, Heather, Jenna, Marina, and Tamara. Their kindness, patience, and gentle care brought comfort to Shirley and helped make her final days peaceful and filled with moments of joy

Shirley’s presence was a gift, and her memory will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758).
