Obituary of Reynaldo Luna Escasa

It is with profound sadness that our family announces the passing of Rey at the Sault Area Hospital surrounded by the love and presence of his devoted family on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at the age of 83.

Rey was the beloved son of the late Francisco Escasa and Vicenta Luna. He is now reunited with his wife, soulmate and best friend, Carmelita Escasa. He was the cherished father of Raymond (Shannon) and Melissa (Sean), and the exceptionally proud Lolo of Espen and Finley.

A gentle soul known for his radiant smile and infectious laughter, Rey’s greatest devotion was to his family. He was a familiar and beloved fixture at the local hockey arenas, where he spent countless hours as the #1 fan, cheering on his grandsons.

His loss is deeply felt by his extensive network of nieces, nephews, and cousins across Canada and the Philippines. He will be fondly remembered by the tight-knit Filipino community with whom he immigrated to Canada and built a life in Sault Ste. Marie with.

Friends and family are invited to visit at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758) on Thursday, March 26, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral Mass to be celebrated at St. Jerome’s Catholic Church on Friday, March 27, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Alex Saurianthadathil officiating.
