Rosita Mulcahey

Obituary of Rosita Mulcahey

With great sorrow and heartbreak, we announce the passing of Rosita at Extendicare Maple View, surrounded by the love of her family on Saturday, March 14, 2026 in her 90th year.

Loving wife of the late Lloyd (who he affectionately called Rosita “his princess”). It brings the family comfort to know she is now reunited with Lloyd after 64 years of marriage. A beautiful legacy. Cherished and loving mother of Gary (Samantha Dalby), Gerry, late Danny and Hilary McCaig (Kevin). Cherished and devoted Nannie of Tyler McCaig, Tayler McCaig (Reno Labonte) and the late Tanner Marie McCaig. Great Nannie of Ace Labonte who always brought a smile to her face. Predeceased by her parents Joe and Mary Adduono. Mom shared an inseparable, deep bond with her sister Lena Palmer (late Eli), who stood by her through every chapter in life. They were two partners in crime! Daughter-in-law of the late Edward and the late Evelyn Mulcahey. Sister-in-law of Patrick Mulcahey (Dara) and Teresa Mulcahey and predeceased by Rev. Harris Mulcahey, Sister Celia Mulcahey, Robert (Rita), Doreen (Mike Hickey) and Lawrence Mulcahey (Diane). She will be missed and forever loved by her many nieces and nephews.

Mom worked at Sentry and Biway. When Biway closed, Mom was looking for an adventure – which led Mom and Dad to open the Bawating Quik Mart. They enjoyed the hustle and bustle, and they met many great people along the way.

After retirement, they brought property and set up their cottage on St. Joeseph Island, straight across from the old Fort. They spent a lot of time with Tyler and Tayler at camp. They were always ready to pack a bag and jump in their van. They will always have many special memories of those times.

Mom enjoyed many crafts and hobbies. She had a passion for knitting, crochet and quilting.  Mom led a full life and will be forever missed and loved. Not goodbye – but until we meet again.

A special thank you to the staff at Maple View for their care and compassion over the past four years.

At Rosita’s request, no services will be held and cremation will take pace. Memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society of Sault Ste. Marie & Algoma District or the Maple View Resident’s Council would be greatly appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758).
