Obituary of Barry Thomas
THOMAS, Barry James - It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Barry on Friday, March 13,2026. Husband of the late Brenda. Predeceased by his parents Jim and Lois Thomas. Barry had a special spot in his heart for his nieces and nephew Crystal Snoddon (Brad), Willy Cameron (Julie) and Katerina Cameron. Great uncle of Kelsey Rye, Kylee Snoddon, Brenda Cameron, Bella Cameron and Madison Cameron. He will be sadly missed by all his friends and the Thomas Family. Son-in-law of the late Joe and the late Elsie Richards. Lovingly remembered by the Richards Family.
Barry was born on October 10,1962, in Sault Ste. Marie and spent his childhood days and teenage years in Echo Bay. Barry attended Echo Bay Public school as a child and graduated high school from Central Algoma Secondary School. Barry worked hard to obtain his Mechanic License and later in life he obtained his Millwright Ticket.
As an adult he met his wife Brenda and they were married June 19, 1993. Barry had many furbabies and loved them all.
Brother Barry was most proud of being a member of Millwright Union Local 1425 Sudbury and of the many friendships he made working in various locations across Ontario. Throughout his career Barry was a mentor to many members, always willing to lend a hand and share his knowledge. Barry and Brenda enjoyed camp, good times in Echo Bay, and their trailer in Sudbury at Richard Lake where many friendships were made.
Barry’s happy place was in his Garage with his buddies and relatives. He was the type of person who would give his shirt off his back if needed, and if necessary, his pants too.
A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held at the Echo Bay Elks Lodge (96 Church Street) on Saturday, May 2, 2026 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
If you are able, memorial donations to ARCH would be greatly appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758).
