Obituary of Lori Jane Dwyer

In the early morning hours of the morning of Tuesday, March 24, 2026, Lori, a gentle kind soul passed away peacefully after day of fighting for her last breath. She was quietly rolled out of the Algoma Residential Community Hospice (ARCH) through the hallway lined with the silent presence of the compassionate caregivers, honouring her. Such a touched and beautiful tribute to Lori, as family followed her out into the early dawns’ gentle snowfall. We cannot thank the staff at ARCH enough.

Lori is now reunited with her beloved husband, Ted. Cherished daughter of Lorna Cherry Cliffe and the late Charles Osbourne. Sister of Joanne Boucher (David) and Mike Cliffe (Michele). Auntie of Jordan (Brittney Whitmell), Emma (Anthony), and Clovie (Steve). Great auntie of Hudson and Margot.

Lori enjoyed being outdoors, spending her whole life camping at Pancake Bay, with family in early years then later with her husband Ted. She also loved spending time at Rose Lake, and in recent years, with our Mom, walking, at Belleview Park and on the SSM boardwalk.

Lori was very creative and loved keeping busy with crafting of all kinds. She had many jobs starting with waitressing at the Husky where she loved talking with patrons, working for a carpet supplier, then Soo Mill at the yard gate and finally as “supers” with her husband Ted. Her favourite part of all was meeting new people, many who became lasting good friends. Lori loved animals having had many pets over the years. Jack, her cockatiel, was gratefully placed into the welcome home of a kind support workers’ family.

Lori’s humour, kindness and love for her family will be forever in our memories.

To honour Lori’s wish, no services will be held. Memorial donations to ARCH, the Sault Ste. Marie Humane Society, Hair’s to You (Sault College) or the SAH Foundation would be greatly appreciated by the family.

Our family thanks the sincere and outstanding efforts of the Sault Area Hospital Cancer Clinic, and the many Physicians, technicians, pharmacist and special caregivers at SAH and Emerg that were treating Lori through her brief cancer journey. We also have much gratitude for family and friends, offering their support and concern over the late six months. Thank you to the staff and ladies at the “happy table” during Lori’s brief stay at the Windsor Place. Dr. “Tian” and his nurse Louise had significant and much appreciated involvement in Lori’s care, as did the compassionate team in the clinic. A heartfelt thank you to the Bayshore team and Doctors Apostle, Berg, Booth, Buehner and Carlson.
