Obituary of Gloria Janine Burt
March 29, 2026 life ends for the incomparable, delectable Gloria. Our vibrant chanteuse, who once had her own TV show, also entertained in other local venues and at Pine Knob, Michigan.
She was the pride and occasional consternation of her parents, the late Aldorice and Janine Langdon Bourgeois of Extendicare Van Daele. Gloria’s sisters, Claire Stanghetta, the late Marianne Jutras, Dorice Stephen and Susan Bourgeois, managed to suffer little residual trauma as a result of their kinship through her life-long struggle with mental illness, which certainly presented challenges. Gloria felt blessed, having no children of her own, to be the eccentric, vibrant aunt to Tina, Randy, Denise, Janine, Pierre, Andre, Brad, Ryan and Sarah.
Forever fashion forward, Gloria cut a brilliantly loquacious figure as a teacher, adjudicator on the Criminal Injuries Board of Canada and as manager of Marci Lipman Graphic Arts and other art galleries in the GTA.
Ambitious, gorgeous, loyal and gifted with a profound sense of fairness and justice; we will miss her. We will most especially miss her wit and self-deprecating sense of humour. She asked to leave you with: “I’m fine. The rest of you are crazy.”
The family and her friends wish to express their respect and gratitude to all who supported her journey: Ontario Home, Dr. Booth and the amazing volunteers and staff at ARCH, where donations can be made in tribute. Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758).
