Obituary of Robin Kennedy
It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of Robin on Sunday March 29, 2026 in her 86th year. Predeceased by her parents Howard and Doris Kent and brother Budd. Robin was the beloved wife of Marvin for 64 years, and a devoted and loving mother to Patrick (Debbi), Michael (Jennifer), John, Robin (Amanda) and Luc Dechamplain. She was a proud and cherished grandmother to Matthew (Stacey), Ryan (Angel), Sammi (Joseph), Lauren, Meghan, Mason, Shannon, Emilie and Blake and was eagerly awaiting the arrival of her first great-grandson in June 2026 - a joy she spoke of often. She will be lovingly remembered by her sisters-in-law Dawn (John), Brenda (Lloyd) and her many nephews and nieces. She also had a special place in her heart for her beloved dog Maggie, who was a constant companion and source of comfort and joy.
Robin graduated from St. Mary’s School of Nursing in 1961; she dedicated over 45 years as an Emergency Room nurse at the General and Plummer Hospitals. There she cared for others with compassion, skill and quiet strength. Her kindness left a lasting impression on patients, colleagues and friends alike.
Faith was an important part of Robin’s life, and she recently became a soldier at her Salvation Army Church - a commitment she embraced with pride and humility. At home, Robin was truly a quilter extraordinaire. Her hands were rarely still, and her quilts were stitched not only with precision, but with love. She generously shared this gift by donating her creations to organizations such as Quilts for Kids and Survivor Quilts, ensuring that her work reached far beyond her own family. It’s safe to say that if love could be measured in stitches, Robin left behind a remarkable legacy. Robin will be remembered for her warmth, her resilience, her generous spirit and her sense of humour. She had a way of making life feel lighter - whether through a well-timed comment, a knowing smile or a simple reassurance that everything would somehow work out.
The family wishes to extend our thanks to Dr. Desjardins, Dr. Kerri Taylor, Dr. Sharon Buehner, all the PSWs from CBI, her primary nurses Naomi and Armanpreet, as well as her long-time friend Carmen Young. A special thank you to family and friends for their love, support and kindness during this difficult time. Your presence, prayers and thoughtful gestures have brought us great comfort.
Friends and family are invited to visit at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758) on Thursday, April 2, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service in the Chapel at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Robin’s memory may be made to the Sault Ste. Marie Humane Society or the Salvation Army Church, causes close to her heart. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.
