Obituary of Margaret Alma Black
Passed away peacefully at Extendicare Van Daele on Monday, April 13, 2026 at the age of 91. Beloved wife of the late Lloyd. She will be missed by her children Jim (Debbie), Laurie (Mario), John (Diane), Linda (Greg) and Terry (Kathy). Loving grandmother of David (Carrie), Paul (Erin), Julie (Chris), Jeffrey, Jeanne (Dan), Hillary (Cory) and Jacob (Amanda). Great grandmother of Ashlyn, Dylan, Chloe, Jordan, Breanna, Brady, Cali, Emmett, Cassia, Abigail, Issac, Hudson, Auburn and Jayden. Daughter of the late Arthur (Doc) Hill and Margaret Hill (Mills). Dear sister of Bert Hill (Joan). Sister-in-law of Ethel Black and Marvyn Rathbone. Alma will be fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Alma was a longtime member of East Korah Maxwell and Willowgrove United Churches where she was a cherished member of the choir and quilting groups. She had a deep love of singing and some of her most treasured memories were made performing in the choir alongside her children. She was also a lifetime member of the UCW.
Friends and family are invited to visit at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758) on Tuesday, April 21, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service in the Chapel at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. Helen Smith officiating. Interment at Sands Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society of Sault Ste. Marie & Algoma District, the Memory Tree at Van Daele Manor (payable to Van Daele Residents Council) or to the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
