Obituary of Geraldine Gingras
It is with sadness and much love that we announce the peaceful passing of Gerry at the FJ Davey Home on Sunday, May 24, 2026 at the age of 92. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 71 years, Pat; her children Chris Fera (Tony), Patti King of Sudbury, Karyn Ruiz (Fernando) of Toronto and Kevin (Heather) of Columbus, Ohio; grandchildren: Luke Fera (Catherine) and Jessica King (Aaron) of Brockville. Gerry was also the loving great gramma of Molly Noonan of Brockville. Predeceased by her siblings Bob Wallace (late Jean), Jean Kenagy (late Dave), Joan Lorenzo (late Leonard) and Rick Wallace (late Teresa). Sister-in-law of the late Jack Gingras (late Fran). Loving aunt to many nephews and nieces.
Gerry was a devoted wife, a loving mother and a loyal friend. She worked hard at keeping a beautiful home. Her kitchen was the heart of our home, always filled with warmth and incredible aromas. No celebration was complete without a taste of her famous pies and prize-worthy butter tarts.
Gerry loved being surrounded by people and was always down for a good garage party with her family and their close friends. She brought laughter, energy and a welcoming spirit to every gathering, creating memories that her loved ones will cherish forever.
After her children were mostly grown, she transitioned into the workforce bringing her characteristic warmth and dedication to a variety of roles. She first welcomed future residents by showing model apartments at Heritage Place. Later, she brought her sharp skills to The Message Center in communications. Her final and absolute favourite position was working as a switchboard operator at the Plummer Hospital.
Friends and family are invited to a Memorial Mass at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church (114 MacDonald Avenue) on Wednesday, June 3, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Michael Omojola officiating. A private family inurnment to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made in Gerry’s name to the Alzheimer Society of Sault Ste. Marie and Algoma District or the FJ Davey Home would be deeply appreciated by the family.
The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to her primary care physician, Dr. Winyan Chung, and as well, to Dr. Nicki Apostle, for their incredible compassion, care and unwavering dedication. A special thank you to Sandra Coutu, NP and the Wound Care RPNs Kerri and Paula, for their invaluable guidance and warmheartedness on this journey. The family would also like to acknowledge the RPNs that took exceptional care of Gerry, including Mary Grace, Cesar, Cindy and Jessica Capriata. Most importantly, we are profoundly grateful to Gerry’s many PSWs: Kaylynn, Ashley, Tammy (3-11), Mel, Harpi, Rusty, Rose, John (retired), Ti, Caroline, Eliza and the many others who provided her most vital care and are truly angels on earth.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to MaryLou at the front desk for her constant helpfulness. Special thanks also go to Wendy the hairdresser and Joyce Gagne, Footcare RPN, for always treating Gerry with immense kindness and gentleness, and to the lovely ladies in the gift shop for always being so incredibly sweet to our mom.
Gerry was always surrounded by love during her five-year stay at the Davey Home. You were truly her second family and ours.
We will always remember her beautiful smile, her unforgettable laugh and her unwavering love for her family. Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758).
