Obituary of Jean Mattila

Peacefully passed away at the Sault Area Hospital on Saturday, July 11, 2026 at the age of 92. She is now reunited with her beloved husband, best friend and sweetie, James. Cherished mother of the late Jane Gearhart (Tracy), Joan Harnack (Richard), Doris Gowlett (late Lance), Perry Mattila (Debbie) and Liz Boyko. Dear Gma of Nicole (Don), Amy, Perry (Mel), Justin (Jenn), Jessica (Brent), Tanya, Denny and Jon. Great Gma of 19 and GG of four. Daughter of the late Alex and the late Mary Ironside. Daughter-in-law of the late Max and the late May Mattila. Jean will be fondly remembered by the Ironside and Mattila families.

At Jean’s request, there will be no services held. Memorial donations to the FJ Davey Home would be appreciated by the family. A heartfelt thank you to the FJ Davey Home Apple One, Dr. Woolner and the nurses and doctors on 3C at the Sault Area Hospital.
