Obituary of Charles Leslie Murray

It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Les on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at the age of 96.

Born on August 11, 1929, Les lived a long, meaningful life centered around faith, family, and kindness. Les was the devoted husband of Mary with whom he shared a lifetime of love, just celebrating their 68th wedding anniversary.  Les leaves behind his cherished children: Candice Tombari (Mark), Jodi Wickstrom (Ric), Leslie Wright (Paul), and Tom Murray (Martha). He was an incredibly proud grandfather to Jason (Jaime), Michael (Alanna), Nick (Ashley), Izaak (Violet), Kori (Matt), Brett (Steph), Hayden (Erica), Jake (Stephanie), Hannah (Mario), Sarah, and Lydia (Cole). Les was also blessed with twelve great-grandchildren: Dylan, Max, Theia, Jasper, Remi, Finn, Shea, Sora, Eden, Owen, Jude, and Tilly, each bringing him immense joy. Predeceased by his parents Thomas and Dyment Murray and his siblings Viola Corey, Leona Duffield and Eric Murray along with their spouses Jack, Al and Marilyn.

An avid golfer, Les loved being on the course, but his greatest passion was his family. He rarely missed a hockey or soccer game, always proudly cheering on his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren from the sidelines.

Our family extends a heartfelt thankyou to the staff of Cedar 2 at the F.J. Davey Home. You became family to us, and your compassion, patience, and unwavering kindness brought our father great comfort and dignity. We will be forever grateful.

A private family service has already taken place. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the F.J. Davey Home Bus Fund would be greatly appreciated by the family. Your support helps provide safe transportation and community outings for residents.  Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758). 

Though our hearts are heavy, the love he shared and the memories he created will remain with us always.
