Daniel Lajambe

Obituary of Daniel Lajambe

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Daniel, on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at the age of 71.

Dan shared many wonderful years with his loving partner, Christina Murphy, with whom he built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, family, and countless special memories. Christina was by his side through life’s many moments, and the love and companionship they shared brought Dan so much happiness. Their years together will forever hold a special place in her heart.

A devoted and loving father to his daughter, Vanessa Bruni (Louie), who held an incredibly special place in his heart. Their bond was filled with love, laughter, and a lifetime of memories. He was endlessly proud of Vanessa, and she will forever carry her dad’s love with her.

He was also so blessed with and felt the love from his wonderful stepchildren whom he loved as his own: Angela Cooper, Michael Cooper, Dustin McDonald (Courtney), Brandon McDonald (Amanda), and Kristen McDonald (Cody).

Of all the roles Dan held throughout his life, being Papa was undoubtedly his favourite. His grandchildren brought him immeasurable happiness, and there was nothing he loved more than being their Papa. He will be forever loved and remembered by Kalam Cooper-Guy, Preston Cooper-Guy, Aubree McBride, Sage Cooper, River McBride, Axel McBride, Nico Bruni, and Luca Bruni.

Dan was predeceased by his beloved parents, Ken and Noreen Lajambe. Dan was a deeply loved brother to his sisters, Karen Reed (Dan) and Joanne Lajambe (Bruce). The bond they shared was incredibly special and remained strong throughout their lives. They shared countless memories, plenty of laughter, and a love for one another that never wavered. To Karen and Joanne, he wasn’t simply their brother—he was a lifelong friend, a source of laughter and comfort, and someone they loved beyond words.

Dan remained a friend to his former wife Diane Lajambe with whom he shared many years and memories with.

Dan was also deeply loved by his nieces and nephews, Cheri (Fred), Brad (Jennie), Lauren (Rhyan) and predeceased and welcomed to heaven with open arms by Adam. Dan had so many cousins, aunts, uncles, extended family members and friends who will miss his infectious sense of humour. His life was filled with people who loved him, and that was a reflection of the kind of person he was.

Dan worked for many years at Algoma Steel, where he formed friendships and memories that lasted a lifetime. He especially loved and cherished the years spent with “Jammers Crew” in No. 7 Battery Maintenance. Those friendships and the stories that came from those years remained close to his heart.

Dan was full of life right down to his very last day. He had a way of getting a whole group laughing and reminding everyone around him not to take life too seriously. He knew the importance of enjoying the little things — good company, a good laugh, time with family, and days spent on the water.

Our family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Sault Area Hospital, especially Dr. Booth, Dr. Dawson, Dr. George and Dr. Best for the care and compassion shown to Dan and our family over the years.

At Dan’s request, family and friends are invited to share “Just a Splash” at a come and go celebration of life at the Northern Superior Tap Room on Sunday, October 4, 2026 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Memorial donations to the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre or the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.

The hole Dan leaves behind is immeasurable. There are no words big enough to capture how deeply he will be missed, or how much our hearts ache knowing he is no longer here with us.

But alongside the sadness is an even greater love — a lifetime of laughter, unforgettable moments, and countless memories that we will carry with us forever. Dan gave us so much to remember, and those memories will become a part of us that time can never take away. We like to think that somewhere, Dan has already found the water. He’s out there boating in heaven now, doing what he loved, with that familiar smile on his face and probably making everyone around him laugh along the way. Though we wish more than anything that he could still be here with us, we are grateful for every moment we were lucky enough to share with him. His love, his laughter, and the joy he brought into our lives will live on in all of us. We will love Dan forever. We will carry him in our hearts, speak his name, share his stories, and miss him more deeply than words could ever express. Now, “Get Going!!”
