Obituary of Virginia Michaluk

It is with deep love that we announce the peaceful passing of Joyce on Tuesday, September 22, 2026. She left us quietly in her sleep, shortly before midnight, with her daughter by her side.

Joyce is predeceased by her devoted husband, John Michaluk (2004). Cherished mother of Brenda-Jayne Mancuso (Gary). Loving and proud grandmother of Caitlin (Russell) and Melissa (Dan), and great grandmother of Triniti (Brett).

She was the beloved daughter of the late William and the late Bernice Wiederman. Dear sister of the late Gloria Wiederman. Sister-in-law of the late Helen Michaluk (late Peter Hulumchuk), late Bill (late Stella), late Olga L’Heureux (late Victor), late Ann McClatchey (late John), late Peter Mitchell (late Mary), and late Mary Huminicki (late Walter).

As we say goodbye, we hold close the love she gave so freely and the strength she carried so quietly. May her pain fall away, peace surround her, and familiar and loving arms greet her.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the caring, and compassionate staff of Extendicare Van Daele. Their kindness touched Virginia every day she lived there, and she considered many of them her friends. A deep appreciation is also extended for the warmth and support shown to her daughter during Virginia’s final day.

As per Virginia’s wishes, there will be no formal service. Cremation has taken place, with inurnment at Greenwood Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Sault Ste. Marie Humane Society would be greatly appreciated. Joyce always shared a special bond with her cats and dogs, loving each of them dearly.

Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758).
