Stephen Boyer

Obituary of Stephen Boyer

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Steve at the Sault Area Hospital on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at the age of 69.

Steve was the son of Isaac “Lizim” Boyer and Nora Boyer (Mainville). Loving father of his adored daughters Melissa and Nora Rose (his precious precious). Proud grandfather of Devon. Predeceased by his siblings Greg (Tito), Leslie, Mary, Madeleine, and Barbie. He will be lovingly remembered by his baby girl Nora, Margaret and Jason as well as his many nieces and nephews, especially Corey, and all those who had the privilege of making him “great”. A very much cherished father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.

For many years, Steve worked as a NNADAP worker with Batchewana First Nation, where he played a special and meaningful role in the healing journeys of many community members. His compassion, understanding, and willingness to walk alongside others left a lasting impact on many lives.

Steve was perhaps just as well known for his love of music. With his beloved “geetar” in hand, he brought people together for coffee house jam sessions in the Thunderbird Room at the Rankin Arena. Music was one of the ways Steve connected with people, and those evenings were filled with songs, laughter, stories, and friendship.

Those who knew Steve will remember his unmistakable laugh, his stories, and his wonderful sense of humour. He had a way of making people feel welcome and giving them something to smile about, often when they needed it most.

Steve leaves behind more than memories. He leaves behind the laughter he shared, the stories that will continue to be told, the music that will still be played, and the many lives he touched along the way.

Friends and family are invited to visit at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758) on Thursday, October 1, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the Memorial Service in the Chapel at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Clinton Moody officiating. Memorial donations to the Canadian Mental Health Association Algoma would be greatly appreciated by the family.

May the coffee be hot, the stories be long, and the “geetar” always be in tune.
Until we meet again, Steve, keep the music playing.
You will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
