Please share a memory of Duarte to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Passed away peacefully at the Sault Area Hospital on Friday, February 5, 2021 at the age of 81. Beloved husband of Irene for 59 years. Loved father of Amelia Marques (Frank), Sara Monteiro (Ray) and the late Manuel Carpinteiro. Cherished Avô of Ashley (Antonio), Steven (Adrienne), Alyssa and Breanna. Great Avô to Francisco “Chico”. Predeceased by his parents Esmael and Maria (Torres) Carpinteiro. Brother of the late Henrique (Rosaria), Alice (Fernando), Amelia (Constantino), Antonio (Alice), Manuel (Prazeres) and late Lida (Carlos). Brother-in-law of Anibal and Sara Lopes. Duarte will be missed by his many nieces, nephews, and extended family in Canada, Portugal, and France.
Duarte came to Canada in 1964 to provide a better life for his family. He worked hard as a carpenter for many years before retiring in 2005. Carpentry was not only his career but a passion. He enjoyed putting his skills to work helping family and friends complete projects and home improvements. Duarte was known for being quite the character, always joking around and making everyone laugh. He most enjoyed celebrations where he could be surrounded by all his family and friends.
