FLETCHER, James Frederick "Sonny" "Jim" - Peacefully at the Finnish Rest Home on Saturday, June 25, 2011 at the age of 87 years. Son of the late Dinah Sheshequin and Gilbert Fletcher. Brother of John (Hazel), Stanley (Mavor), Fran Luther, Shirley Horn, Jackie Fletcher, June Markie, William and predeceased by Florence Nolan (late Alphonse), Alice Souliere and Arnold (Pat). Uncle Fred will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, friends and acquaintances throughout Sault Ste. Marie. Known to many Saulites as "the man who pushed his bicycle all over town." James attended Shingwauk Residential School (Algoma University) as well as Sault Technical School. He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force. James was a constant source of information and local historian. James was an outstanding Elder of the Missanabie Cree First Nation. Friends may visit at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation & Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Road 705-945-7758) on Wednesday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. Funeral service in the Chapel on Thursday, June 30, 2011 at 11 a.m. Feast to follow at 648 Queen Street East at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations made to the James Fletcher Bursary Fund (Payable to Paytahpun Fund Raising Group)would be appreciated by the family. www.northwoodfuneral.com At the going down of the sun and in the morning we will remember them.
