All the great memories I have of our early days with Deryl. Val we spent a lot of great times chasing him around Bawating. Remember New Years Eve 1971......driving around in his car making house calls. Then there were the snowmobile outings....so much fun. I can't remember not having a good time with you and Deryl. Never a dull moment.....lots of laughs. He was a great guy and everyone loved him. I can't imagine the grief you are carrying....I know you loved him so very much. Just remember you are in our prayers and out thoughts so that you can overcome this very difficult time. It is something we will all have to experience......and it will never be easy no matter when it happens. Stay strong "Rhea" and know that you are loved and remembered..... Lets spend some time together this summer....I am retired and plan to be up there more often. God Bless you Deryl....you will be missed...

My condolences to the Biron family. It was a pleasure to have worked with Deryl on projects at the steel plant. He was innovative, creative, and a great example to those around him.

To the Biron Family. My memories of Deryl go way back to Tarentorous Public School. Although I have not seen Deryl in many many years, I continue to hear wonderful stories of his kindness, helping ways and the generosity that he exhibited through the years. May you find some peace and comfort in your memories. Sandra Hall Blind River ON

Dear Val, every so often I check SooToday to see what's happening in the Sault. I was saddened to read about Deryl's passing and send you my sincere sympathy. My memories of Deryl are from the 1970s, back to the days of your green Mustang! I still think about those days when Kelly, Kevin and I were camping up the line and at the time Deryl was working on an ACR crew. We pitched tents on rocks overlooking the railroad one night and I vividly remember him and his crew driving (is that the right term for the railroad?) on the rail to a repair job. Funny the things we remember from simpler days. What struck me about his obituary and the condolences is that they describe the person I met in the 1970s and really haven't seen much of since then. This says a lot about Deryl and the impact his life has made on others. Sending my best thoughts ...Frank

Val, our sincerest condolences to you and your family on the loss of Deryl. He was a great friend, mentor and confidant. We spent countless hours planning and executing projects together. We had many fun times, especially during our stays in Italy and Holland. One that comes to mind is when you, Deryl (aka Figaro) and I went for dinner and tried to order pizza....and we ended up with steak (horse???). Good thing there was a bottle or two of vino rosso to wash it down. He was always willing to teach, especially if someone was willing to learn. I am proud to have known such a great man. I miss him and will remember him always.

Deryl was a wonderful, kind and gentle man. I was truly honoured to have met him and have been touched by his generosity. I will never forget how he was the only one who could get "Lucy" to mind when she was at her worst! He had such a way with animals and always made everyone feel special. My heart goes out to his family and friends who have lost a truly amazing influence in their lives. May you find peace in your many happy memories.

My condolences to all of the family. The last time I got to see Deryl was at the Bawating Reunion a few years ago. I'm so glad we got to reconnect at that point. I have many fond memories of my cousin from our childhood days and I will always carry those with me.

Dear Valerie , it is with heavy heart that I send these words of condolence . I worked with Deryl for many years in the Ironmaking Dept and held nothing but respect for him not only as a co-worker but also as a friend . Please convey to your family and loved ones the deep regret I feel in his passing . I was not aware of the seriousness of his situation as I no longer live in the Soo and am currently in Florida for the winter . He will be missed by so many but he left a legacy behind, sincerely Laurie Mccracken
